Hi,

I'm trying to install FMP 5.5 v. 2 updater on my new Compaq EVO N800c running Windows XP and it doesn't work. FMP 5.5 v.1 is installing ok but when I try to update it to v.2 I get an error writing file "a88b3.msi" ( I think the name changes when I do a new installation) and the message says to check if the file exists (it does) and if I have permission to access it (I do). The file is located in c:windowsinstaller .

It is not the first time I install this updater and I never had any trouble but it is the first time I install it on a Compaq computer

Does anyone have a clue?

Thanks

Brigitte

Hi Dave,

I extracted the zip file to a folder, it's located in "c:tempfmp_55Fv2_win_updagerFileMaker Pro 5.5Fv2 Updater".

Has I said, it's not the first time that I use this updater but it is the first time that I have this problem.

I tried reinstalling FMP 5.5... with the same result, could their be a problem with the updater file?

Thanks

Brigitte

Extract the zip to your desktop...the resulting exe file is also a self-extracting file. Extract this, using WinZip, to a folder on your desktop.

In this folder, you will find (I think) setup.exe

Run this, and it will update your FMP version correctly.

Best

Hi Dave,

Thank you! The FMP 5.5 v2 updater worked fine! I don't remember doing that before but anyway, it works and that's what's important. I will remember it for the next installation

Thanks again for your help!

Bye

Brigitte
