October 19, 200223 yr When debugging scripts and requesting help (like we do here), it'd be so much easier if we could export the entire script in all its steps to a text format that we can just copy/paste easily. Is there any way in FMP? (I have FMP 5.5).
October 19, 200223 yr In the scriptmaker window, you'll notice a print button. Hit that for the particular script you want to print. Depending on the OS you have: Windows XP: Click the "Print to file" checkbox Mac OS: Go to output options and check "Save as file" box If these don't work, let me know what OS you are using.
October 19, 200223 yr Author Yes, though this is a neat use for the print button, when/if it works, it'll be a blast <g>. Well, I did print to a *.prn file but was concerned that a little bit of text would generate a 150kb file. Also, this is a new install and I don't have Ghostview/Ghostscript installed, nor my newer Adobe Acrobat so don't know if that's why this didn't work. I ended up changing the prn extension to a txt one just to see what would happen, but it's all coding. I could live with that if my script were in there somewhere and could be isolated, but it's all useless stuff to me and mentions an Adobe drv file (driver?) but nothing of value. No other extension possible other than the PRN one. I have Win98SE. What do you think will work? This is exciting if I can export in some way like this. Here's hoping!
October 19, 200223 yr Author WHOA! HOLD THE PRESSES, HOLD THE PRESSES ... Sorry, I _do_ have my Adobe Acrobat installed. I just went several times through the steps of saving to file, perplexed, and although I was doing the same thing over and over not getting anywhere, I finally looked at the installed priner. Duh! I haven't yet installed my Lexmark printer and so it's defaulting to the already present Adobe Acrobat (sorry, this is 3rd wipe/reinstall in 2 weeks for various reasons, so lost track of that fact). And guess what? It was defaulted to Distiller. I changed to the only other option, to Acrobat PDF Writer and it generated a PDF file, which is fine by me, I can copy from that. Thanks for teaching me this! I'm sure other newbie developers like me (can I be so arrogant as to really call myself a developer?) will love not having to copy-type up their scripts onto an electronic stickie ready to copy/paste elsewhere. Thanks muchly!
