Opening multiple files based on relationships

When you have multiple databases that are related, how do you get the other db's to open up when you open up one of them? Does this make sense?

They will automatically open when the parent file needs the data from the related file. So, if the parent file is displaying a layout that contains fields from a related file, then that file will open automatically.
