A little guidance on Bowling database please

I currenly do a lot of statistics programs in lotus 123 and excel spreadsheets for bowling organisations. Well I looked at Filemaker and really like the program. Basically i do not have a lot of database experience, but what i want to do is take 3 divisions (mens, ladies, mixed) with 6 teams in each division. the teams each bowl 5 games with wins and losses against the other teams. What i need is a way to set up the databases to not only do team totals for games and wins but do singles results based on sex.

I have tried to set up the tables but keep getting confused as to which relationships I should use. I currently use one table for divisions, teams, bowlers and scores.

All I need i think is a little guidance as to whether they are the right tables, and how I should link them. I believe i should be able to do the rest.

I recently did a database for sailing races. "How hard could that be?" I thought...

Sailing (and bowling I suspect) has a long tradition that predates computers. Consequently much of the scoring* is difficult to implement digitally. Not impossible, just difficult.

For me the first step in developing the database was learning how sail races are organised; the second step waslearning how to score them "by hand". The third step was converting the scoring process into an algorithm that FMP can work with.

All of this is kind of saying that your problem is probably a bit too complicated to answer over a forum. You might consider posting the work you've done so we can take a look at it.

I personally have never understood 10 pin blowing scoring so won't be much help!
