crazybake Posted November 19, 2002 Posted November 19, 2002 I have a schedule that has a date popuplist that schedules a piece of equipment. Each job is automatically calculated for time to perform. If all records are listed in a row, is there a way to sort the records by date and have a summary field after date? Maybe this is a script or portal isue... I have no clue...thanks for the help
CobaltSky Posted November 19, 2002 Posted November 19, 2002 There is certainly a way to sort records by date. Several ways in fact. One way is via the sort command, which will place your records in either ascending or descending order by any field value(s) you specify - including dates. The other way is to display your records within a portal (based on a relationship from the same or another file) and specify a sort order for the relationship on which the protal is based. This feature can be accessed from within the Define Relationships dialog. It is also possible to create a summary field which summarise date values - however whereas average date, maximum date (latest), minimum date (earliest) and such have an obvious meaning, other options such as the sum of all dates in a given field are not so useful (though FileMaker will calculate them nonetheless if that is what you request).
