exporting a related field

When I export a record from my database in merge format, I want to include the details field of the last entry in my "log" database. I have a 1 - M relationship between the two, and when I specify the related field to export it gives me that field for all the related records. Is there anyway I can get just the latest log entry. My relationshop is reverse sorted by creation date so that the latest entry is at the top.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
