Newbies CSthreeD Posted January 2, 2003 Newbies Posted January 2, 2003 Hello- I'm trying to make a user friendly search layout. How can I use checkboxes to search through my long set of notes in a text box- and then show the records it found them in. (I want to gear my checkboxes to keywords used in my notes for each record.) -Christine
andygaunt Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 Hi, check out Cobalt's website for this file http://www.nightwing.com.au/FileMaker/demos/MultiFind.fp5 This shows how to parse a checkbox field for find requests. HTH and a Happy New Year
Newbies CSthreeD Posted January 2, 2003 Author Newbies Posted January 2, 2003 Thanks for the site- Using his example: Is there any way to get the item color radio buttons to search through the item descriptions for the words "red" "green"...? -Christine
Newbies CSthreeD Posted January 2, 2003 Author Newbies Posted January 2, 2003 I had another idea- OR get the checkbox to create text in another text box so when I hit find, it finds the matching text. (Sorry- I'm confused too!) -Christine
djgogi Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 If you need an OR search, iow any of values in your GLOBAL check box field than you don't need at all an REAL find, simply create an relationship gCheckBox-->notes and use step Go To related record
