I am new here and have used dBase and Fox pro

I am trying to print in a report sales totals for cities without the cities

being listed with each sale. In other words I want to have a total for each city. like so Montgomery $500.00

I may have 10 sales in Montgomery but don't want to print each sale

only print name of city and the total for all sales in that city.

Can someone show me how to do this??

using Filemaker ver 6... Thanks in advance.

Make a list layout and stick a subsummary part between header and body. When asked, tell it that the subsum is based on a sort by city. Make a summary field that sums the sale field. Put the city field and the new sum field on the new subsummary part. Click on the Body Part tab to the left & delete (if you want individual sales as a list under the city name, then leave the body part in). You now have a layout with a header and a subsummary part & nothing else. If you want, you can add a Grand summaery & add everything up at the bottom.

To get the info, you must first sort by city name. The results will only be viewable in preview mode, or when printed.
