rex
When I backup fp5 files to a CD-R, Filemaker treats the files as read-only and won't allow password entry. This makes them usless as backups if I need to replace the original files. The problem does not occur when backing up to and from floppys. I think I have tried all the ways there are, but can not find the correct one. A message always come up saying they are write-protected. Is this a regular problem? signal
Are you copying the files back to a hard drive before trying to open them or are you opening them right off the CD-R?
markpro
Copy to a writeable drive and then change the file properties to archive. even after copying to a RW drive your properties will remain Read-only. Fear not, you can select the entire group and change the properties to archive in one command.
