"host could not be found on the network"

Featured Replies

Hi

can anyone help?

I am trying to access my FM Server using OS X but keep getting error messages:-

"DOCKET" is currently in use and could not be opened. The file is single-user or the host could not be found on the network.

If I restart my Mac in OS 9.2.2 and then try to connect, its fine.

I am using a ibook , Filemaker Pro 6v4 . I have also tried this on several Macs in OSX but still no luck.

The server is running on a Beige G3 OS 9.2.2 - Filemaker Server v5.5)

All databases are set to Multi-user.

Make sure your set to TCP/IP and not AppleTalk

If I select TCP no one can open the databases using OS 9 or X but if I select both TCP and Appletalk all OS 9 users can open the databases and OS X users just get the message: "DOCKET" is currently in use and could not be opened. The file is single-user or the host could not be found on the network.

I able to use remote administration in OS X.

I seem to be having the same problem. What was your "fix". I see this is an older post, but I'm trying to install FM Server and get the same message as above. Thanks.

If I want to install the FM Server on a G4 running the newest version of X on an Ethernet local network with router and cable modem what setting do I apply to the internet/network of this machine so that remote users can access and use the database via their web browsers on remote PC's ?

thanks...I'm having trouble keeping the server running-it shuts down after about 15 seconds
