Connecting from a different network

I have never had to connect to the server across the router or a gateway, but now I do. The files are not on the Web, and I don't want them to be.

I understand that I need to make sure the router is listening on port 5003, am I right? This is something I would need to ask from a network admin?

Any clarification is appreciated
