backed up DB corrupt, original remains pristine???

Config: Mac OS X (client) 10.1.5, FM Server 5.5v2, 13 databases in varying size up to 1GB.

Symptoms: all but one of the backed up databases are fine save one. No matter how we back it up, the copy is always corrupt. The original remains pristine and intact.

Has anyone seen this? Is there a fix? How do I back it up without corruption? Has anyone tried the command line yet? That's what I'll try next.

TIA, Ed Dyer

Where are you backing up to? An external drive? We back up to a firewire drive and the back-ups are golden. We get in trouble with the live files when shutting down, but the back-ups are the ones that remain in tact.

We are backing up to a local volume and then burning to DVD-R with the finder/SuperDrive. Of note is also that the copy is always 499MB whereas the orginal is 505MB.

*Interesting: we open the copy on the server and there is nothing about it being corrupt. Only when we open the copy from a FileMaker machine other than the server is it listed as corrupt.

**I've just noticed that we are actually using v.2 for Server as well as clients.
