Can I import an Appleworks Database?

I have a database that we created in Appleworks, but now we need to migrate it to FileMaker 5.5. AppleWorks only offers me the option to save my database as an Appleworks database or as a Clarisworks database, and Filemaker doesn't seem to accept these file types as acceptable to open.

I've searched these forums for the answer, but so far no luck. Is there a way to move this database into FileMaker?

In Mac OS X, Appleworks v6.1.2, there is an option to Save As... ASCII Text. I just created an AppleWorks database, then did drag&drop onto FMP 5.5 and it imported everything just fine. I hope it works for you.
