Will FileMaker Pro 6.0 allow me to attach Word or Adobe files to a database record? FileMaker Pro 5.0, which I now use, does not allow me to do this.

What I want to be able to do is to go to a FM record and then be able to link directly to an related Word or Adobe file.

In this respect, FileMaker 6 offers not much improvement over 5.0.

But - the "send message" or "send apple event" script step would allow you to open any file, provided the path is known. You click on the link, and word/acrobat/etc is opened...

Well , you have to put in the path manually (C:Documents.. or Macintosh Hd:Documents ...).

A File Plugin or a couple of scripts can help here..

In MAcOS X, you can viev PDF files directly in containr fields

- a as graphic (first page only) or b - added as quicktime movie (not printable, but plays lilke a movie page per page)

In many Windowv versions, you can drop any file onto a container field, and a double-click would reveral the data in the corresponding programm ...
