While this isn't as clever as the smart ranges calculation, (see http://www.onegasoft.com/tools/smartranges/index.shtml ), it is a much simpler formula; hence, easier to understand. This example file allows a span of at least 1000, and can be extended higher by changing the formula. However the 64000 character field restriction is the ultimate limitation. Smartranges doesn't have this limitation of course.
