Importing Mcrosft Access Data into FM 5.5?

Hello,

I need to get a mailing list file from Access 2000 (PC) into FileMaker 5.5 (Mac). One sugestion I got was to export the file as an Excel document then import that into FM.

Any better way?

Need all the help I can get!

Thanks,

-Maxx

I haven't tried this with Access - however I do import and export to other applications by creating a mapped script in a compatable format.

I cannot imagine Access not having an import-export capability with comma or tab delimiters.

Have you tried ODBC?

Export Access data to Excel spreadsheet. Drop spreadsheet onto FMP application icon. New database will be created automatically.

OAM is of course right but what if you want to import limited records in a certain sort order?

I think this is when ODBC comes in whereby you need to make sure that proper ODBC drivers are installed in your computer before you start the import process.

NB:with ODBC you can import directly from Filemaker by selecting ODBC data sources from files of type drop down list.

To export a subset just create a query in access2000. It has these cute crazy.gif little wizards.

Once the query is open, export that.
