Help with Portals and children!

Featured Replies

Sorry in advance. I'm new here from old DOS database.

Order Form [order_main] has line detail [Order_lines] that looks up inventory based on item#'s [inventory]. Relationships [order_main & Order_lines by Order#] and [Order_lines and Inventory by Item#]. All I want is to have Order_main list 10-15 Order lines that you enter item#, it brings up description and price, you enter quantity then extensions fill and you go to next line. HOWEVER I need to be able to modify the Description that is looked up from INventory so that the modification stays with the order. I'm told don't use repeated fields, I can't get portals to list multiple lines. My text is Schwartz FM Pro 6.0 but I just can't get past this. Good help will result in increased fertility and winning lottery tickets!

This is duplicate post?

well, you can have -editable - descriptions with portals if you choose "lookup" in auto-enter options for your Order_lines instead of a caculation....

Make sure your portal is set to display more than one line. Double click on it in Layout View and see what the Lines To Displa box says. Also, make sure the fields you have put into the portal are actually within the boundry of the portal. I have "missed" the portal before or accidentally moved them off a little bit, at that point you will only see one line of related info.
