Portals and date auto-enter

I have a portal, that links through to transaction records.

If I add a new record to the transactions database directly, (ie withou the portal) then the auto-entry date works fine.

But, if I enter the new record within the portal, no auto-enter works. Any clues as to why?

never seen this behaviour. Auto-enter modification date thru portals always works fine with me (WIn,MacOS,MacOSX)

Maybe post a strippd-down example. Also specify FM version + platform.

OK, I have found out what was happening.

When I clicked on a blank row in the portal (the date field happens to be the first), nothing appears.

But, if I tab out of the field, then the auto-entry date enters. What had been confusing was that I saw the blank field, and assumed that it was not working.
