Automating ODBC import

Featured Replies

I finally built the ODBC link today between filemaker and our accounting software. I'm pleased at how easy it was. Ultimately, some of the filemaker data is going to be updated with data coming from the accounting software.

Let's say that I can capture all the information that I am interested in, and the import works. How can I have this import run, say, once a day at midnight, or something similar? I'm guessing there is going to need to be multiple imports (as well as exports, eventually from filemaker), and running them manually is going to get old real fast.

What's my first step?

Well, instead of being smart and reading the User's Guide first, I posted here. I have a script that will run that imports the ODBC data, works just fine... How will I get the script to run at a specific time every day?

For future reference, I used the Scriptit plugin from http://www.cnsplugins.com to automate the import process, it works rather well.

You can download it and try it for free, it's $85 to register a single lisence, $68 for educational and non-profits.
