i am running in a for-each loop

can i in the loop access directly the first and last child

even after i left the first child and still didn't get to the last child?

what i mean is the first and last child of the XML i am running on

The first child is <xsl:value-of select="fieldName[1]" />

The last child is <xsl:value-of select="last(fieldName)" />
