Find related record

Hi All,

i have a Parent File in which one of the layouts has a portal. the portal shows all of the related records from in the child file. 1 to many relationship.

what i want to do is click on a portal row of one of the records and then i am taken to the child file and shown the record i have searched for via the portal.

each record in the child file has a unique ID. what i have set up is that i copy the unique id via the portal and then perform external script in child file - external script enters find mode pastes in to unique id and performs find but it always just finds the record which is the first row in the portal!!

what am i doing wrong?

I would suggest using the Go To Related Record step. You could even place a button on the portal row that when click will go directly to that record.
