July 21, 200322 yr Does anyone know why the FileMaker Pro ODBC driver is unable to create DSN that points to a dataset? It just creates empty DSN, there's no option to point it to specific database Same goes for User DSN and File DSN. B
July 21, 200322 yr Author Inreply to my own question and for others' benifit: Local and Remote Data Access companions must be enabled for the driver to function properly. File DSN needs to be created.
July 21, 200322 yr I would guess that you would need to set up the user DSN prior to trying to use ODBC. (Check in "Administrative Tools" in Programs in your startup menu and choose "Data Sources (ODBC)."
July 22, 200322 yr You will probably find you get much better performance and reliability by going about this the other way around. Have FileMaker connect to SQL server through ODBC and insert the records. Importing a large nuber of records via FileMaker's ODBC driver will be slow. Ian
