My scripts were working fine until late yesterday, when I continually started to experience error messages when opening any and all external scripts in another filemaker file, resulting in a crash every time. I tried uninstalling and re-installing, but still the same result. The errors are in the following files:

CLLNGENU.DLL

and

MFC42.dll

Any info would be appreciated, becaue it's brought my progress to a standstill.

Thanks

The error messages say that there is a problem with those particular files (listed) and that FileMaker will now close. I uninstalled and reinstalled all of Filemaker, but that didn't help.

I highly doubt I have a virus as I'm obsessive in that regard. I'll try what the tech tips suggest. Thanks Much.

The exact message I'm getting is this: "FileMaker Pro has caused an error in CLLNGENU.DLL. FileMaker Pro will now close." I've tried renaming it in the system folder, but it's required to open the program and it's a no-go if it doesn't find it. What are my options?

I changed the MFC4d.DLL names to .old as suggested in the tech tips and that solved part of the problem, but the other file is still flaking out.

You're not going to believe the solution I found on the FileMaker Pro website:

Errors in Module CLLNGENU.DLL Or Module Unknown

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ISSUE:

We have received reports of the following error message, often times when spell checking other times performing random actions in a file:

"an illegal operation error has occurred with an invalid page fault in module cllngenu.dll."

"an illegal operation error has occurred with an invalid page fault in module <unknown>."

"FILEMAKER PRO caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at xxxx:xxxxxxxx"

RESOLUTION:

In most cases turning off "Spell check as you type:" stops the errors.

To turn off "Spell check as you type:"

1. Choose Spelling from the Edit menu, and then choose Spelling Options.

2. In the Spelling Options dialog box, under "Spell check as you type:" check mark "Off".

EXPLANATION:

This has been seen to happen in database solutions where one database has "Spell check as you type:" set to "Beep on questionable spellings" or "Flash menu bar on questionable spellings" check marked another database has it set to "Off".

Note: This has also been seen in corrupt databases. If you are not using "Spell check as you type:" recover the database.

If only I'd known it was that simple 12 long hours ago....
