Stopping Extra Portal Row

This is my first time. Please be gentle.

I would like to know how to stop portals from displaying an extra row when not necessary.

I have a portal displaying related records (in another file). Next to each portal entry is a button that takes you to the related record.

Unfortunately, the portal displays an extra row and consequently the button??

How can I stop this??

In the relationship definition, un-check the "allow creation of related records" box.
