August 12, 200025 yr Newbies I have a need to set filemaker server timeout for inactivity to 10 minutes for most of the clients for security reasons. However, the clients that are responsible for daily input and access to the data base are also logged off after ten minutes of inactivity. I need a way to allow a select group of people, either with the status(groups) or status(username) that will not log them out for inactivity. I was hoping to write a script that would execute every 9 minutes, causing activity to occur for the select user. But I can't figure out how to get this to work. Any ideas? Specs: FM Pro 5 Server running on Mac G3 server, TCP/IP, 25 clients mostly running Windows (yech) 98, some macs. 22 data files. Thanks ------------------
August 22, 200025 yr Newbies make a small one layout dbase with a master password, use the same password as the rest of the files you are trying to keep open, just to be clever. This layout will keep the rest of the layouts open, even past the Server timout. Have your data entry people open this dbase as well as the rest. This has worked for us.
