I am a new filemaker user and am working on a new database. I am an intermediate Access user, but have Filemaker at work so I need to learn it in a hurry.

My issue:

I'd like to create a report that lists a records beginning balance , lists current month entries and then shows an ending balance.

Example:

Account# AccountName

Debit Credit Balance

ID# 7/1/03 Beginning Balance 0.00 0.00 100.00

ID# Date Description 50.00

ID# Date Description 10.00

7/31/03 Ending Balance 140.00

Can you give me a suggestion on where to start on creating the beginning balance entry. Would that be a portal? Any help is appreciated.
