Hi all,

I am dumfounded as to why it is so difficult to subtract the value of one field from the same field in a different record. I have posted this question in many FM forums and have gotten a wide variety of responses, all of them frightfully complicated. There must be a simple answer for this because it is NOT an unusual request.

I have a flat file (no relationships, portals, etc). There are only two records visible. I need to be able to subtract the values of record 2's fields from the same fields in record 1 and show the results in the third in the footer. There are about 15 fields that will be compared and the results for each will either be a negative number, 0, or a positive number.

Hi Mabou,

Do you have only two records in your database? Or do you have a search mechanism that will always find exactly two records?

Regards,

Ernst.
