booboo Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 Am I safe using dates in 11/8/03 text format when using these dates as part of a key to relate to other files? Is it robust? I feel a bit uncomfortable about it, and wonder whether it would be better to convert it to a number (as FileMaker does when the field calculation result is set to Number.) Am I worrying needlessly? Thanks!
jhotz Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 I'm using this format for dates in my database, where I relate transactions from one day to the cash box reconcilliation for the same day, and it seems to be working fine. It's still in development, so it hasn't been thoroughly tested or been put into a production environment.
BuddySystems Posted September 1, 2003 Posted September 1, 2003 I use Date and date w text calcs as keys all the time without a problem. For example in a current solution, the main key is "datewemployee" which is equal to a text calc that is date &"-" & employee name, where date and employee names are globals.
