Access changes after password added?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I think this issue was already discussed once here, but I'm wondering if anyone has any [new] ideas.

On Friday, I added a new group and new password to a file in FM Pro v5.03 (which is hosted on a v5 FM Server). As soon as I put the file back up on the server, major changes to field access appeared. I took the file down, again, and changed the field access privledges to the orginial settings on *all* groups; that is, no field-based restrictions. However, this morning I got a call from the client that fields were suddenly inaccessible again, the specific fields which were the problem on Friday. What the heck is going on here? I've heard about scripts doing strange things after changed are made to passwords/groups/etc, but never this.

Thanks!

Hello nut,

What you have encountered is an obscure bug with recent versions of FM.

FMI is aware of it. However for the moment, you need to take great care if adding a group to an eexisting file (checking very thoroughly to ensure that other privileges are not erroneously changed when this occurs).

Meanwhile, it is best to add additional groups and passwords when the file is created (for later use if required) than to return to the file and add them later.
