ruthcarlton Posted September 5, 2003 Posted September 5, 2003 I have a client in another state. They have just installed the solution I developed and I am trying to access the files remotely (they are using FM Server on a PC, I'm using Developer on a Mac). I have the machines static IP address, all the files are set to multi-user with remote data access sharing checked and their local machine has the plug-ins checked as well. When I enter their IP address nothing happens. Why? Is there a better way to administer the system remotely? Thanks. -Ruth
BobWeaver Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 They probably have a firewall set up on their network. If so, they will have to configure the firewall to open port 5003 for TCP/IP. Also check out similar topics in the connectivity forum about other settings that you may need to make. Also make sure that their copy of FM server and your copy of Filemaker is configured to communicate using TCP/IP. This is set in Filemaker's application preferences menu.
