OS X System Wide Address Book

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if it is possible to use XML to tie a FileMaker database to the System Wide Address Book in OS X?

I am creating a solution that will have a customer list (don't they all) and would like to have the name, company, phone number and email data reside in the System Wide Address Book while keeping the address info in the FileMaker database.

The goal would be to utilize iSync to sync the address book data across multiple computers and devices with zero effort beyond developing the intial databases.

Any hey, if not XML, is there any other way to do this? Will this be a feature in FileMaker 7?

Thank you,

James

The Address Book talks Applescript. You can use this to transfer data to-and-from Filemaker.

Good Luck.

That is a great idea Garry, thank you!

Ideally, I'm looking for someting that would actually link data between the two applications, as opposed to a one time import/export operation.

Best regards,

James

I've also been looking at this and the best way to do it is to integrate your filemaker data with LDAP someway and then you can define the new LDAP server as a source in address book etc... I'd be interested if anyone had researched this further since this post or has any helpful information.

Kind Regards,

Peter
