exporting data from a subsummary part

Featured Replies

I have a database tracks the processing of laboratory samples for a specific genetic condition. The samples database includes the results from various lab tests. There is a related database that catalogs the physicians around the country who submitted the samples. We needed a monthly report that shows how may of each type of sample were submitted from which zip codes. Thanks to help in this forum, I made the report work by using a subsummary party and sorting by zip. It works great. Now the principal investigator wants to have this report exported so that she can work with it in Excel.

I don't think that FMP can handle this and my plan is to export the raw data to Excel and then redo the summary processing there. Is there an easier way to do this? confused.gif

OK..I got the exports working (tried that mysterious format using current layout and summarize by options), but still had some weirdnesses. In my report as formatted, the last line is a trailing grand summary. What happens is that the trailing grand summary data and the data from the first line were combined. I fixed the problem by deleting the original fields I entered (except for zip) and only exporting the summary fields (plus the zip).

It's great to answer my own questions....one of the benefits of being a Gemini.
