Newbies geeker Posted October 22, 2003 Newbies Posted October 22, 2003 I am creating a portal for daily attendance. When the user clicks in the first field of the first row and selects a name, I would like to automatically create a new portal row. I am not sure how to do this. I have seen it done before. Please help. Thanks so much.
Vaughan Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 In the relationship's definition, select the option to "allow creation of related records." The portal will now display an empty blank row that you can use to create new related records.
Newbies geeker Posted October 22, 2003 Author Newbies Posted October 22, 2003 Sorry, I forgot to mention this, but I tried that already and it did not work... Do I have to set something up in the other DB that I am pulling the data from? Thanks
ernst Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 No, what Vaughan describes is the only thing you'll need to do. It does not work if the keyfield in the related files is a calculated field though. And the new blank record appears as last row in the portal; which can be unhandy. regards, Ernst.
