I would like to set the clipboard to a calculation, I can only think of using copy but that means I have to have the field on the layout. Can anyone suggest an alternate way?

I assume you mean "copy the result of a calculation field to the clipboard"?

Yes, you'll have to have the field on the layout.

But the field doesn't have to be big (1x1 pixel is fine) and it doesn't have to be visible (hidden under a coloured rectangle) and it doesn't have to have entry allowed, so it won;t show up when other fields on the layout are selected.
