Steverino Posted November 16, 2003 Posted November 16, 2003 I have two or more layouts that I'm planning to combine into one report. Does anybody know if there's a way to set the page numbers so that, say, layout 2 starts printing a page "7" (even though it's the first page of layout 2) and layout 3, say, starts at "12"? These numbers will of course change, depending on the length of each report. In Microsoft Word you can start numbering at any number, but I don't think there's the same feature with FMP. (You can restart at 1, but that's not of much use to me.) Also, and I don't know whether this has been discussed in this forum, but I often get bad page breaks in my layouts with sub-summaries, even when I allow parts to break across page boundaries. When I sort by a category, pages will print out with a lot of blank space, even though the next category/sub-summary could really fit. What do I do?
BobWeaver Posted November 16, 2003 Posted November 16, 2003 You need a global field gStartPageNo to hold the starting page number, and then make an unstored calculated field cPageNumber with the formula: gStartPage + Status(CurrentPageNumber) -1 Then display cPageNumber on the report where you want the page number to appear.
Steverino Posted November 17, 2003 Author Posted November 17, 2003 Thanks! But can I put the field in the header, or does it have to be in the body?
Steverino Posted November 17, 2003 Author Posted November 17, 2003 Just tried it -- it works perfectly! Thanks!
