Slow mouse scrolling and typing

I have 2 G4s with OS9.2.2 running FM6.0v4. One operates normally. The other runs FM with 40mb RAM instead of about 12Mb. Mouse scrolling and keyboard typing is painfully slow in FM but not in other applications. This happens even when I open just one of the small sample databases provided with FM. Closing FM takes an age. I have tried switching everything else off including networking but with no effect. Any suggestions anyone ?

Re-install FMP. Check the network settings.

Yes I've tried all that but it makes no difference.
