I am attempting to host a file on a Windows 2000 FileMaker Server. The file was previously available on a Mac OS9 computer. When I attempt to host the file I am getting the error "Error occurred; unable to open file." There was a start up script that was calling another database that was not present. I disabled that script but it is still not working. Any idea on how I can resolve this problem. I forgot to mention that the file is working if I access it directly with FileMaker and do not host it on a FileMaker Server.

Since you can access the file directly, make sure it is set to multi-user mode. You should also check that it has a .fp5 extension.

Since you were hosting the file on a MAC they do not add the file extension.

The file does have a fp5 extension and it is set to multi-user mode. I forgot to add that the file is set up to use a web security database. Do I need to do anything special to have the file recognize the web security database is open?

The file is now working. I have not worked on this for almost a month. Something must have changed in the environment.

Thanks :(
