I'm having some trouble with a relookup (the lookup works fine when I make a new record). The lookup source field is a calculation field, and the lookup destination field is a text field. When I try to perform a relookup, I place the cursor in the field that I want to relookup (Field1), perform a relookup from the records menu, and then get the following alert in a dialog box:

There are no fields that look up values based on the field "Field1".

Any suggestions? Thanks.

FM's menu language is confusing here, if not downright wrong. You actually need to place your cursor in the filed ON THE BASIS OF WHICH you want to do re-looking-up. So, put your cursor in the calc field and relookup...

I tried putting my cursor in the Calc field of the related file, but no luck. If I create a new relationship based on a new match field, the relookup works fine (in this test, I placed the cursor in the new match field before performing the relookup - as specified by Filemaker). But I need it to work with my current match field as my whole database is based upon it

There must be something corrupted with my current match field. It's a number field in both files. If I were to delete it and then recreate it, I would have to recreate (or at least update) about 100 scripts and lookups.

Problem solved. My match field in the current layout was setup using the field tool, but I did not see that it was set to a related file and not the current file.
