accessing original databases after importing

I have a database that is filled with records via a script that imports data from two separate databases, A and B. What I'd like to do is to be able to change a "yes/no" field on either of the databases depending on which record is being changed. The problem is that since the record could be from either database I'm not sure how to setup a related field, if this is even the rout e to take. Thanks for the help. Jim
