I am trying to replace quotation marks in fields. The "substitute" function does not appear to work with this string:

Substitute(City, """, "")

I want to substitute a single quote mark in the City field with no character. Filemaker keeps telling me that I need an additional quote mark. I think it's reading the text I want to replace (a quote mark) as a quote mark used to surround text.

Any ideas?

ok, i had this problem once as well.. what i did was this.. i made a global field, and called it quote, then populated that field with a quotation mark ("). then i made my substitute field look like this.

Substitute(City, quote, "")

oh yes, this works best if you turn off smart quotes. (go to document preferences and uncheck "use smart quotes".)
