Import Avid and Final cut pro EDL file

Hi, first post ever be nice.

I need to import an EDL file with TONS of time code names and various details. Is there a template that exsits ? Other wise I need help in creating a template that can import EDL data it it's own searchable fields and later do all sorts of other stuff with that edl file. I have it able to import but just a big huge chunks. And a found a plug in but it does not import data it just writes the time in proper timecode.

Please help.

Hi, welcome to the forum!

I'm sorry but what is an EDL file? What kind of data are you importing, could you give us an example of what exactly needs to be imported and what fields it needs to go into.

It may be the case that you will need to import a "huge chunk of data" and then use calculations to export the relevant parts into their correct fields.

Give us some more info and I'm sure someone will be able to sort this for you

It is a movie edit decision list. It is helpful to log tapes and where the edit are placed in.

OK what information do you want to extract from this into what fields? Would the above all be contained in 1 record or would this file be creating seperate records in the DB?

One file. And all of the info would need to be imported into it's own Fields tags for easy search access. But it would need to be a template that an edl file can be imported into a template file.

I am in the works to get it created but it would be great for somebody to just make the thing.

I have duraion working and expense but the importing clean every singal time is the daunting part thus far.
