SassyTexan Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 Hi folks! Here is my dilema, I have a database that I have to import records into. However, it was originally created with repeating fields (UGH!, I inherited it). There is not enough time to make the change at this time, (this db is scheduled for revamping at a later date.) The white papers in FM are clear as mud. Any suggestions????
BobWeaver Posted February 12, 2004 Posted February 12, 2004 It depends on the data you are importing. Where is it coming from? what kind of format? Does it contain repeating data? Filemaker interprets the ASCII code 29 as a separator between repetitions. So if you are bringing the file in from some other software, you may have to run it through a text editor search and replace routine to convert the serarator character.
SassyTexan Posted February 12, 2004 Author Posted February 12, 2004 Well it is also a FM database, but they are separate records. I had exported it to a text file to import but it is only recognizing the 1st record or importing all 300 records individually. I will try to find a text editor. Thanks for the suggestion.
