Bad quality images in container fields

Featured Replies

I have created a container field in my database with all my customers. The reason is that I want to have my customers logotype in filemaker showed in their record. It works, but when I print the record from filemaker the image turns out to be really bad. The image I import are of perfect vektor grafic quality but when I print it looks like a gif-image from the internet. I have tried to use eps and pdf images. Is there any other fileformat that is better to use? I want the quality to remain the same as the original vektor grafic image if possible.

The problem you're having has to do with the fact that FileMaker is scaling the vector image. Considering that FMP is a database application, it is obviously not optimized for this. I believe that FMP converts everything into a raster image, and I've had fairly good luck using JPEGs to print from. The trick is to experiment with different image sizes & resolutions until you find you're getting a good printout, then standardizing your images to what works best.

guess you are using FM5.5 and MacOS X or a non-postscript printer. There is a bug in FM 5.5/OS X.

FM 6.04 handles EPS files correctly, provided fonts are converted to paths or font is used on the FileMaker Layout.

For Logos, I usually resort to a 300 dpi TIFF image (X-plattform solutuin) or use PICT line art (Mac only).

JPG is not suited for Logos, since compression degrades image quality.
