February 24, 200421 yr Newbies Hi folks! Since parsing basic XML files in Flash has become an easy task for ignorant newbies like me I was wondering how to make this XML editing process a little bit more efficient when thinking about working with big amounts of data. So I have come to this idea of using FM as a comfortable way to produce non dynamic XML-databases for use in small Flash applications. The problem is that after importing an XML file into FM and adding some data to it I cannot get an "updated" version of my original file, I mean when exporting that FM file back to XML. The format is totally different! Nodes, attributes, everything is gone. Is there any kind of workaround to this little prob? Should I think about using XSLT for data fomatting? Any resources about learning XSLT would be appreciated! Thanx in advance! Ray PD. please forgive my bad english...
February 24, 200421 yr you gotta use XSLT for import as well as export since the XML document structure is completely different. It's not a big deal if you read Bev Voth's excellent Book. Or just have a trip to www.filemaker.com/xml
March 5, 200421 yr Author Newbies Sorry I did not answer back your reply as fast as you did. I just really have to thank you for such a great advice. I have already made my way through the web to buy Beverly Voth's Filemaker book as soon as possible.
