delete IP entries in host window?

Featured Replies

How do I delete IP adresses which still are shown in the host dialog box in the list at the bottom of the host-window?

The adresses were added "permanently" to this list but how do I get rid of them?

Not a big problem but an annoying one ;-)

In this special case Win2k and Win XP... But it would also be nice to know if and where exactly IP adresses are kept in MacOSes ;-)

Greetings Harald

MacOS X:

Macintosh HD -> Users -> YourUserAccount -> Library -> Preferences -> Filemaker Preferences -> Filemaker Hosts

MacOS 9:

Macintosh HD -> Sustem Folder -> Preferences -> Filemaker Preferences -> Filemaker Hosts

No idea about how this works in the Windows world, but search for the 'Filemaker Hosts' file...

Regards,

Ernst

Hi Harald,

On Windows...

C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorApplication DataFileMakerFileMaker Pro6.0FMHosts.txt

Application Data is a hidden folder in Windows so you need to enable view hidden folders and files.

Control Panel -> Folder Options -> Click View Tab -> Select "Show hidden files and folders"

Regards

Ed

Wim Decorte created a little file that can do this directly, without having to look for folders, at http://www.connectingdata.com/downloads.htm. It requires the Troi File Plug-in. (I helped with the Mac path :-)
