Problems setting up printer

Featured Replies

I have a problem printing from one of my workstations. I had a script that performed a print layout without dialog but for some unknown reason when I ran the script I got the message "Cannot access print options. Use the Control Panel to set up an active printer." I checked in Control Panel and had a networked printer set as the default and the printer was working. To temporarily solve the problem I unchecked the perform without dialog box in my script and the user can manually select the printer, however if I attempt to enter "Print Setup" in Filemaker I get the same "Cannot access print options. Use the Control Panel to set up an active printer." message. Has anyone any idea as to how I can fix this?

What platform, OS, and what version of FileMaker? Is it a FileMaker Server system?

Hi Stanley,

I am working with Windows XP and Filemaker 6.0.

Can you print to that printer from other applications, like a word processor? Just wondering if it is a FileMaker issue, or an OS issue. It sounds like an OS issue, from the dialogs you're getting, in which case I'm not going to be able to help you. I work mostly with Macs, and the world of Windows is just a maze for me.

That said, if you can print from another app, it's likely a FileMaker issue...

Stanley,

The printer works perfect in all other app's and it also works when I uncheck the "print without dialog" in my script and manually select the printer.

Wishing I was working with Mac,

Richard
