rivet Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 Well, I am excited and ready to explore, but I was so hoping that they would give us a better portal scroll, not one that pops back to the top when you click out. Oh well.
spankalee Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 Supposedly they do. It's listed as one of the features. I wonder what's up?
Steven H. Blackwell Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 If you scroll a portal then click elsewhere, the portal will stick. However, if you click out of the portal and onto the background of the layout, it will roll back to the top. Steven www.filemaker.com/upgrade/techbriefs.html
smorr Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 One issue that I have found is that if you create a record through a portal relationship, the portal will scroll to the top (regardless of what you want it to do) If you merely modify a record, then it won't scroll. Is this a bug or design flaw or an intended feature?
stanley Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Portal behavior (in this sense) is apparently not changed from previous versions. There are various ways to track which portal row you were last on (via a global, for example) and then return to that portal row after an action. Because this kind of thing is supported within the scripting language, I guess the folks at FMI didn't feel the need to change it, or support another method of behavior. Nevertheless, it can be dealt with by scripting. -Stanley
