Any new printing or layout abilities in FMP 7 ?

Featured Replies

Hi all:

As some of you may already know, I've been working with some very troublesome printing layouts for a client who deals with military contracting. I was wondering if there were any new tools/capabilities in FMP7 for dealing with print layouts - I have had half a look this morning at FMP7 and haven't seen anything new, but thought some of you who have had the pre-release, etc., might be able to clue me in.

Thanks,

Stanley

Version: v5.x

Platform: Mac OS X Panther

Stanley -

AFAIK no updates have been made to the printing in FM7. Ijust looked at sliding printing options etc and cannot see anything new

I believe FMP 7 has a whole new print engine!

OK -

Does it improve the problems that have plagued us in the past versions?

From what I was told on Monday by FMI Australia people, they are a thing of the past. When I see it I'll believe it.

I get my copy of FMP Dev 7 on Friday! I already have a project to use it for too.

The only change I've seen in 7 printing capabilities is in the AppleScript "print" verb; it now accepts several new parameters, but nothing that lets one set the target printer. This is also only of potential benefit to those on the Mac platform.

print: Print an object

print reference -- The object to print

[with password string] -- The password to use

[for Accounts string] -- The account name

[from page integer] -- start page

[to page integer] -- end page

[with copies integer] -- number of copies
