Aragorn Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 I have a lesson plan form I created and there is a text field for the description of the lesson. I used 9 pt font so the user can put a lot of info in there and scroll bars to view the data on the computer. Howeverwhen it comes time to print the lesson, if any data is not actually visable in the field it won't print. I tried shifting up but either I am doing something wrong or it wasn't meant for that use. I read something about holding the Shift key down when going into Layout mode which will include more options in the Layout menu but I can't makeanything out of it... Basically I need the full record to print... thx Version: v6.x Platform: Windows XP
stanley Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 Aragorn: You've got to make the text field (in the print layout) as large as the text will ever be - i.e., make it really big. Then you can use sliding to bring things below the text box up to just below wherever the text ends. If your text field is only three lines long (for example) then you'll only ever print the first three lines of text, no matter how much you've put in... -Stanley
Aragorn Posted March 12, 2004 Author Posted March 12, 2004 Thx stanley...The only problem I might see if the user puts too much info into the field when it prints it will add an extra page... I put a not in the help section but if they are like me, they won't read the help until its too late...LOL
stanley Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 Aragorn: One thing you might consider is to make the text-entry field the exact same size as the maximum you've allowed in the print layout. Put a comment next to the field explaining that this is as much space as you've got, so if you run out of space, reduce the font size, etc... It might screw up the look of your layout, but it can really reduce headaches later. -Stanley
Aragorn Posted March 12, 2004 Author Posted March 12, 2004 Thx stanley... I thought about a message script attached to the field... I wish FMP supported tool tips like Access...those make informing the user nice!!
