I have discussed this before, but i am afraid i like to need more answers about

this...

i would like to do this with Filemaker, is it possible without a plugin?

I have a database of vehicles. I would like to save document related to

each and every vehicle. I want to save the document in a container-field,

and not as a link. The database is going to be used on a Windows (Xp) Network.

I want the user to clock a button that says "Insert Document". After the

user have done this a browsing windows should apear, and the user simply

choose the file he/she like to insert in the container-field.

Because this database is supose to function like an support-db, the user

must fast and easy be able to open the document (without exporting it)

and edit it in the documents program. Then save it when done.

The best would be if there were a button called "open File", wich opens

the file directly from the container-field.

If i use the insert OLE, then the user have to make to many choises himself,

wich will garanteed be problems in the future. Is it possible to set this

function so that the user only need to browse to a file (not choose link,

show as icon...)?

If i use the insert file (FM7) it inserts the file perfect like i want, but

then it does not insert it like an OLE wich means that i have to export it

first before opening the file. This is not an option...

Is this possible at all with FM? I have tried to use the feature that comes

with FM but i cant get it to work as i like.

If this is not possible with FM,is it possible to do this solution with

FM Developer? Is it hard to make such a solution with developer

(i never used developer)?

Is there some other way to go around this problem without buying a exspensive

plug-in?

I dont think that i am the only one that needs this function in Filemaker.

Is not this one of the meaning with a database-program for small-medium business?

Confused Bob...

Version: v7.x

Platform: Windows XP
